medium heat, late
Armenian garlic originated from the community of Hadrut, Nagorno-Karabakh near Azeraijan. This easy to use variety has a crispy texture and chops easily. The celery-like flavor gives way to a medium heat level that intensifies on the palate.
Armenian garlic bulbs won't necessarily be the biggest on the table, but they have a unique, mild flavor we haven't found in other varieties. The bulb's outer wrapper is fairly easy to peel, and each bulb has 5–7 medium-sized cloves. The clove skins are moderately thick, and the cream-colored cloves are easiest to peel when the root end of the clove is cut. Armenian garlic keeps for 6–7 months when stored at room temperature in a dry, dark place that has plenty of air circulation.
Quantity Guidelines 12–15 bulbs per pound Approximately 60–80 cloves per pound
We grow all of our garlic naturally, and we never use chemicals at any time during our planting, growing, harvesting or curing processes. The Quantity Guidelines listed above are ESTIMATES to help you decide how much of this garlic variety to order by weight so you can plan for your cooking needs.
Note: Garlic is an agricultural crop that is subject to loss due to conditions beyond our control. This can even occur in the curing stage. We check each bulb before shipping them to you, and if there are any quality issues with our stock, we may need to substitute the variety you want with another, similar variety. We rarely need to do this, but if it does become necessary, we will contact you prior to shipping to discuss your options. Our goal is to get truly great, superior quality garlic into your hands while providing personalized customer service that you can trust!
