Black garlic, often called “black gold,” has been used in kitchens worldwide for thousands of years, and the unique, umami-rich flavor is prized by chefs. Our black garlic is extremely versatile and makes a great addition to broth, soup, sausage, dip, pizza, salad dressings, marinades, sauces, and much more.
Black garlic is not a specially grown variety of garlic, but rather its normal garlic that is slowly dried, aged and fermented using low temperatures over the course of 7–12 days. This process transforms the sharp flavor, light color and crunchy texture of the cloves and they become soft, sticky, date-like black gems. Black garlic has a delicate, garlicky flavor with some balsamic-like richness that can go savory or sweet, and it even blends well with chocolate!
Our Black Garlic is sold in 1 oz quantities, and while that may seem like a small amount, it's actually just very light weight and translates to about 1/2 cup. Plus, a little goes a long way!
Black garlic will keep for up to 1 year, and we never use preservatives, additives, or burning to make this awesome product.
Keep your black garlic in the mesh bag it came in, or transfer it to an open paper bag or open container, and store it in a cool, dark cupboard. This will allow air to circulate while regulating moisture. Never store black garlic in plastic bags, avoid sealed bags and containers, and never opt for the refrigerator or freezer. Moisture and cold are black garlic’s enemies!
