Vietnamese Red is a Purple Stripe garlic with a rich, sweet, light garlicky flavor that is delightfully mellow even when raw. A higher sugar content makes this our favorite variety for roasting, baking, pickling and fermenting in honey. The roasted flavor is even more mellow and sweet than when raw, which makes this a good variety to pair with delicate dishes like quiche, cream sauces, white pasta sauces, and fish.
Vietnamese Red bulb wrappers are thick and fairly easy to peel, and the inner wrappers are vertically striped with increasingly more purple stripes the closer to the cloves one gets. Each bulb contains 6–8 medium-sized cloves and bulbs will keep for 6–8 months when stored at room temperature in a dry, dark place that has plenty of air circulation.

Note: Garlic is an agricultural crop that is subject to loss due to conditions beyond our control. This can even occur in the curing stage. We check each bulb before shipping them to you, and if there are any quality issues with our stock, we may need to substitute the variety you want with another, similar variety. We rarely need to do this, but if it does become necessary, we will contact you prior to shipping to discuss your options.
